Privacy policy

How TECH HAS NO FACE LIMITED handles personal information for Ar Sabi Salone and the SLAPIP platform.

This notice covers the public SLAPIP website, the Ar Sabi Salone mobile app, the SLAPIP API and developer portal. It describes the service as it operates today; it does not turn catalogue records, map context or community reports into verified addresses, boundaries or public personal information.

1. Who is responsible

TECH HAS NO FACE LIMITED (company number 09787757) operates SLAPIP and is responsible for the processing described in this notice. Ar Sabi Salone is the consumer mobile app formerly presented as SLAPIP. It is published through the Google Play developer account displayed as THNF; the release identity covered by this notice is com.techhasnoface.slapip. “SLAPIP” remains the name of the website, API and developer platform that supply the app’s location services.

2. Information we handle

  • Public exploration and Ask Sabi Sabi: a search term or question, requested catalogue page and short technical session identifier used to return a response. The free /v1/learning/ask service does not create an account or store a conversation; standard security and rate-limit records can still be processed.
  • On-device preferences: theme choices, saved places, recent places and cached catalogue material stored on the device or browser that created them. They are not a public profile.
  • Optional permissions and notifications: the mobile app may request location for a nearby/location feature, photo-library access when you choose to attach or save a contribution, and notification permission when you opt in. Push delivery uses a device token; you can refuse or revoke these permissions in device settings.
  • Community and listing submissions: a location record, report category, description, evidence or photo, submission receipt, and the contact details used for an optional email, SMS or other contact-verification step.
  • Sponsored placements: the placement shown and limited delivery/interaction information needed to operate and measure a clearly labelled sponsored campaign. Sponsored placements do not charge app users, and campaign payments are not enabled in the current consumer release.
  • Developer services: account/profile data, authenticated session information, API-key metadata, API request/usage records and security or error logs needed to secure and operate the service.

3. How we use information

  • Return requested public catalogue data and source-backed responses, protect the API from misuse and investigate failures.
  • Keep choices and saved/recent places on the device that stored them.
  • Deliver an opt-in notification, verify a submitted contact method, and assess a contribution or listing request without automatically publishing it.
  • Operate clearly labelled sponsored placements and their delivery reporting.
  • Operate developer accounts, credentials, usage controls and service security.

Ar Sabi Salone has no paid access, subscription or in-app purchase, and we do not ask the consumer app for payment-card information. We do not sell personal information or use the free explorer or Ask Sabi Sabi to create advertising profiles.

4. Maps, hosting and other providers

The public website explorer uses MapTiler map tiles with Leaflet and OpenStreetMap attribution. The mobile app’s configured default is OpenFreeMap with OpenMapTiles and OpenStreetMap attribution; a separately configured mobile MapTiler connection may be used only where shown in the app. Loading a map can disclose standard technical request data, such as IP address, browser/device details and the requested map area, to the applicable map provider and its delivery network under its own notice. SLAPIP also uses hosting, email, SMS/contact-verification, push-delivery and Go232Go moderation providers when those optional functions are used. App stores process installation and apply their own terms; Ar Sabi Salone does not process app-store purchases. We disclose information when required by law or when necessary to protect people, the platform or its security.

5. Community reports, Go232Go and review

A correction, alternate spelling, missing-place or facility report is a moderation request, not a publication request. It is reviewed before any catalogue change and may be retained with review notes as an audit record. Do not submit sensitive information, a private address or material you are not entitled to share.

Go232Go-linked photo, listing, ownership and verification contributions are separately moderated and are not automatically published to SLAPIP. Its privacy notice explains that service’s handling. A person may manage deletion of account-linked Go232Go data through the live Go232Go account-deletion page, or contact us with enough detail to identify a report. Deletion may be limited where we must retain a minimal security, fraud-prevention or review record.

6. Retention, choices and requests

Local preferences, saved places and recent places remain on your device until you clear them or uninstall the app. The published free Ask Sabi Sabi endpoint does not retain conversation content, although security and rate-limit records can be processed. Support, correction, developer-account, notification, verification and security records are kept only for as long as needed to provide the service, resolve the matter, protect the service or meet a legal obligation; SLAPIP does not currently publish a fixed retention schedule for every record type.

  • Clear browser storage/site data, or clear the app’s storage, to remove local saved and recent places.
  • Manage optional device and notification permissions in device settings.
  • Use the Go232Go account-deletion page for account-linked Go232Go data, or request access, correction, deletion or information about other personal data we hold by emailing support@techhasnoface.com. We may need to verify the request and may explain any lawful limit on deletion.

7. Data sources and policy changes

SLAPIP’s administrative and GIS reconciliation work treats Statistics Sierra Leone’s open-data resources as the primary official reference. Source coverage and verification status vary by record; see the licences and acknowledgements and data status pages before relying on a location. We will publish material changes here with a revised date.
